A "subsidy expert" is essentially a person driven by innovation, possessing an insatiable curiosity, who places the customer at the center and, through extensive service, relieves the customer to create a high-quality subsidy file. These subsidies should be viewed in a broad context, including innovation subsidies, sustainable investment subsidies, and transformation subsidies.

When guiding a subsidy file, attention must be given to:

• Innovation (AI, Industry 4.0, control engineering, biochemical processes)
• The team (who will execute the project and whether the team has the right skills for it)
• How the customer will conquer the market with the new product or service, and checking if the customer has sufficient financial resources to support the investment.

It essentially comes down to being very curious about who the customer is and understanding where the customer wants to head at. Asking the right questions and outlining a strategy for the customer is therefore an important part of the job.

For the academic year 2025-2026, we are looking for internship students throughout the entire year. As an intern, you will work with the KPMG subsidy team on concrete customer projects where you will be assigned specific tasks based on your background, interest, or ambition. This includes:

• Attending an intake interview or technical workshop with a customer
• Finding the best-fitting subsidy for that customer
• Outlining a work plan to achieve innovative products and services
• Developing a business case to estimate the impact of the investment
• Providing a short, preferably technical training on a topic that interests you
   

As an intern, you will collaborate with the subsidy team both at the customer site and in the office. You will have the opportunity to see where some wonderful companies are headed and contribute to the overall innovation rate in Belgium. It's an ideal opportunity to learn about a lot of technology and gain experience in a multidisciplinary team.
