Our energy team is dedicated to support clients through the energy transition by combining strategic expertise, sector insight and market leading deal origination and execution. As a (Senior) Manager of the M&A team, you will be responsible for supporting business origination efforts, lead focused streams of execution on transactions and support Directors in further developing the franchise. You will need to demonstrate a strong desire to learn to support origination efforts in M&A.

Key responsibilities can be summarized as follows:

  • Origination responsibilities will include preparing value added content and supporting the strategic dialogue with our clients. You are also expected to help build energysector knowledge and intelligence to deepen our franchise’s expertise;
  • Over time, you will need to become a reliable point of contact for C-level client contacts, developing and sustaining strong and long-lasting client relationships and understanding of their broader business needs;
  • On transaction execution, you are expected to lead and support key workstreams including a.o. client management, project and process management, due diligence, financial modelling, valuation and negotiation of transaction documentation demonstrating a high level of expertise across the entire transaction lifecycle;
  • You will need to contribute to the development of the M&A team through the deepening of functional knowledge and insights; demonstrating expertise; the codification of best practices; and the development of new services, tools, methodologies.

Skills & Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications, expertise and skills:

  • Master degree in Business Administration, Finance or Engineering
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of transaction experience in Investment Banking and M&A at an international investment bank, M&A boutique or accounting firm.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • A strong interest in the energy sector and innovation, with the ability to work in a changing environment
  • A previous experience in the energy sector is a plus
  • A strong technical knowledge with proven competencies in investigative analysis of the business and sectors, mastering valuation principles and techniques
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to interpret data, generate insights and construct solutions, Strong excel modelling skills
  • Exposure to or familiarity with both Equity Capital Markets and Leveraged Finance transactions is considered an asset
  • Experience with working with diverse teams on an international level
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills and able to perform consistently at a high level and at times under high pressure while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Detail orientated and well organized with a strong work ethic
  • Open mind with the flexibility to manage teams in a fast-moving environment with changing client requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch and French
