Our energy team is dedicated to support clients through the energy transition by combining strategic expertise, sector insight and market leading deal origination and execution. As a Director in the M&A Energy team you will be responsible for leading mergers and acquisitions strategies, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities within the energy sector in Belgium for our clients . You will play a pivotal role in executing large-scale transactions, negotiating deals, and ensuring strategic alignment with the clients' overall growth objectives. You will also work with the Executive Directors (M&A and Structured Financing) to shape pipeline, manage relationships with external stakeholders, and oversee due diligence processes.

 

Key responsibilities can be summarized as follows:

  • Participate in, lead and manage the strategic dialogue with our clients;

  • Support business development, from lead identification through to the presentation of pitches and proposals;

  • Build energy sector knowledge and intelligence to deepen our franchise’s expertise;

  • Develop expertise and knowledge of a variety of clients and markets, and awareness of KPMG’s service offerings;

  • Contribute to project completion review(s) to identify lessons learned and improve future quality and commercial planning.

  • Main point of contact for C-level client contacts, developing and sustaining strong and long-lasting client relationships and understanding of their broader business needs;

  • On transaction execution, you are expected to lead key workstreams including a.o. client management, project and process management, due diligence, financial modelling, valuation and negotiation of transaction documentation demonstrating a high level of expertise across the entire transaction lifecycle;

  • You will need to contribute to the development of the M&A Energy team through the deepening of functional knowledge and insights; demonstrating expertise; the codification of best practices; and the development of new services, tools, methodologies.

Skills & Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications, expertise and skills:

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or other quantitative field; or a Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in the energy sector;
  • Extensive experience (At least 10 years) in M&A, project finance, strategic consulting, or deals structuring within the energy sector;
  • Experience in consulting or advisory services within the Energy Sector and comfort in discussing sector related topics, trends and insights with clients;
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, corporate finance, and valuation techniques;
  • Deep understanding of energy markets (e.g., Gas, renewables, utilities) and regulatory landscape;
  • Very strong numerical and analytical skillset with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch and French.
