Roles & Responsibilities


The IT Director is accountable for leading the IT Services (ITS) team of KPMG Belgium in response to the IT demands and needs of our business and our clients.

The role is expected to continuously evolve the future state IT vision, reflecting innovative business orientated outcomes, AI and emerging industry opportunities. The role is responsible for ensuring architecture governance, removing inefficiency in processes and championing standards that support business objectives and enable IT transformation.

The IT Director also plays a pivotal role in the AI evolution and is expected to guide the corporate AI transformation journey.

Primary responsibilities

Continuously evolving the vision and roadmap for technology in consultation with the Digital and Innovation Steering Committee (DISC) and the Management Team (MT) of KPMG Belgium; the IT Director will report to the MT and will interact regularly with KPMG International’s IT organization;

Guiding the firm’s AI transformation journey, ensuring secure and value-driven adoption of AI across the organization;

Providing governance and assurance in the execution of change and solution delivery;

Development and maintenance of the architecture framework and processes;

Promoting the value proposition of ITS through engagement with business stakeholders;

Working with KPMG business leaders to provide the technology perspective on business opportunities and demand, advising on technology selection.

 

Your role

The IT Director is a member of the DISC and acts as a trusted advisor to the MT of KPMG Belgium. In this role, you provide clear visibility into technology and service opportunities and articulate their relevance to KPMG’s business strategy through a future-state roadmap aligned with business objectives and industry trends.

You are responsible for assessing the gap between current IT capabilities and future-state requirements. The role sets IT priorities and provides strategic direction to address the most critical barriers to meeting business demands.

You develop and maintain a forward-looking technology strategy that positions the firm as a technology-enabled organization, including the effective adoption and deployment of AI.

You establish and maintain appropriate architecture governance and assurance. In this role you evaluate the risks associated with technology decisions, identify threats and execution challenges, and pragmatically determine where flexibility can be applied and where compliance with assurance requirements is essential.

And last but not least, you drive idea generation across ITS by fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. The IT Director role leverages knowledge and expertise from internal teams and business stakeholders, with the architecture function playing a leading role in enabling and accelerating innovation.

Skills & Qualifications


Business understanding
: The capability to learn, understand and apply knowledge of business and technology strategies, plans and external influences and to bring these together to make a commercially aware, value adding contribution to the business. 

Strategic outlook: Adopt a pragmatic approach to aligning future technology with programme delivery. The ability to liaise and gain the confidence of senior stakeholders across the wider firm to ensure consistency and support for the ITS vision.

Leadership: Exhibiting strong leadership skills through effective team management and clear communication. 

Responsiveness and issue management: The capability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to issues. Handling conflict, negotiating towards agreed solutions and escalating appropriately.


Qualifications and Experience

Extensive experience in an IT leadership role within professional services;

Demonstrated expertise in IT Services, combining operational and strategic responsibilities;

Proven experience leading AI and data transformation, including responsible adoption of AI at scale;

Proven track record in managing outsourced and shared services;

Experience in budget reporting and governance;

Strong people leadership capabilities;

Fluency in Dutch, French & English;

Ability to integrate market and technology insights to deliver solutions in complex environments.
